Since December 2021, the government have been appealing for qualified teachers (primary, secondary and further education) to return back to education to help maintain face-to-face teaching.

Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi is asking retired teachers and career-switchers to temporarily help fill gaps in order to retain face-to-face teaching.
